The Journey
What to Expect
Destinations
Egypt beyond the Nile Valley. This journey ventures into the Western Desert — the White Desert's chalk formations, the Black Desert's volcanic landscape, and the ancient oasis of Siwa, where Alexander the Great once sought the oracle of Amun. Nights are spent in a private glamping encampment under stars of extraordinary clarity. Days are spent among temples and tombs that see a fraction of the visitors that crowd the Nile corridor. This is Egypt as very few have ever experienced it.

Day by Day
Your Itinerary
Every day is a starting point. Your Egyptologist and concierge will adapt the pace and sequence to suit your preferences.
Arrival & Orientation
Private transfer to your suite at the Four Seasons Cairo. Evening briefing with your Egyptologist and desert guide over dinner — maps spread on the table, the route ahead discussed in detail. An early night before the desert begins.
Into the Western Desert
Drive west from Cairo into the desert, arriving at Bahariya Oasis by midday. Visit the Valley of the Golden Mummies — one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century — and the Temple of Alexander the Great. Overnight at a private desert lodge on the oasis edge.
The Volcanic Landscape
4x4 convoy departs at dawn through the Black Desert — volcanic cones and basalt-strewn plains unlike anywhere else on earth. By afternoon, the landscape transforms: the White Desert's chalk formations, sculpted by millennia of wind into mushroom shapes and arches. Your private camp is established as the sun sets, turning the chalk formations gold, then pink, then silver.
Stargazing & Silence
A day with no agenda. Morning walk through the formations with your guide. Afternoon rest in the shade of your private tent. As darkness falls, your astronomer guide sets up telescopes and narrates the desert sky — the Milky Way visible in its entirety, satellites crossing overhead, the silence absolute. Bedouin dinner around the fire.
Alexander's Oracle
Drive to Siwa — the most remote oasis in Egypt, closer to Libya than to Cairo. Two days in this extraordinary place: the Oracle Temple of Amun where Alexander the Great was declared a god, the ruins of the ancient city of Shali, the salt lakes at sunset, and a private dinner hosted by a Siwan family in their home. Swimming in the freshwater springs at Cleopatra's Bath.
Return
Fly from Siwa's small airstrip back to Cairo. A final afternoon in the city — the Islamic Cairo quarter, a rooftop lunch overlooking the old city. Private transfer to Cairo International for your departure, or extend your journey with a night at the Mena House, the pyramid at your window.
